What’s on Deck – Week of April 29

What a busy couple of days for our swimmers!  The JV Invitational was a great success!!  Congratulations to all of the JV swimmers who turned in a winning performance!

As the JV team ends their season, we’d like to thank all of the parents who volunteered their time in order to make the season so successful.  We’d also like to thank our JV Coaches Brad Allen and Nick Stefan, as well as Varsity Coaches Don Heidary and Trevor Rose for their time and dedication to the swimmers.
Just a reminder for a very important date!  The MATS Swim Awards Dinner will take place on May 30 at the Orinda Country Club.  Please mark that date and don’t miss what is always a fun and exciting evening.
A separate email will follow to all Varsity families in regards to the rest of the season.
Here are a few notes from our Head Coach Don Heidary:

Way to go Mats!

Congratulations to the Junior Varsity group and the coaches on an incredible meet.  It was a great day of swimming and again revealed the highly competitive nature of Miramonte Swimming at big meets.  Thanks to the Varsity swimmers for their strong support; with water bottles, paper plates, signs, and of course for maintaining an intensely spirited green presence at the other end of the pool.  And of course, thank you to Mitch and all the parents for creating this great swimming experience, one which most high schools do not enjoy.

Varsity notes:

·         No more morning workouts

·         Movie Night Friday with a DFAL meeting

·         DFAL entries are being finalized.  If you have any questions, see Donnie.  Entries are due Tuesday.

Palo Alto Invitational (a late mention)

Miramonte had the best swimming performance in our history at the highly competitive meet and the best team finish as well at 4th place in men, women, and combined.  The invitational features top teams from the three Sections in California (North Coast, Central Coast, San Joaquin).

What’s on Deck – Week of March 11

I can’t think of a better way to start the week than with daylight savings!  So nice that the swimmers can make it home before dark, and that the sun won’t go down too quickly making for a chilly meet!  Hopefully it will stay warm for our first dual meet this Thursday.  The home meets usually run until about 6:30, and swimmers are expected to stay, break down the meet equipment and participate in the team meeting.  The full meet schedule and estimated time of how a meet runs is in your handbook, which is posted on our website.
Another reminder that picture day was moved from today until April 19.  The calendar has been changed and is posted on the website.
Thank you to all the parent volunteers and those who stepped up when we had some shortages during last weeks Time Trials.  The meets cannot run without the parents participation, so while it is required, it is also very appreciated!  We had a number of swimmers decide not to swim once the spring teams for water polo had been announced so we may have some holes in our volunteer schedule.  If you can step up and help at a meet if needed, it is always appreciated.
Here is the volunteer schedule for our first dual meet this Thursday, March 14: DVHS @MIRAMONTE.  A reminder!  If you signed up to bring food, please remember that we’re feeding over 100 swimmers…and they get hungry and disappointed when the food disappears too quickly!
*Volunteers: Please check in with Meet Director at 3:15pm.
*Snack Suppliers: Please deliver snacks to pool deck by 3:15pm,
